Dark energy is the shorthand term for the accelerating expansion of the universe due to a mass energy. It may be a property of space, a new dynamical fluid, or a new theory of gravity. Quintessence is a hypothesis about Dark Energy. It refers to the four elements and thus the four essences of modern cosmology: matter, radiation (protons), cold dark matter and neutrinos (hot dark matter).

This work is an exploration of light in installation and painting. It is constructed out of light. The form is analogous because it takes an energy medium (light) as a starting point to define another independent energy medium (matter). It is an interpretation of the form of dark energy. Color is used to define a spatial relationship in what is represented.
